GRANDPA'S STORY My name is Grandpa and I am 36 years old. When I was ready to retire my family cared enough to find LCAR where I could live out my last days being well cared for. Styler's Note: Grandpa has since passed on but he was happy and loved while he lived with us. He will be well remembered by all who knew him. |

COFFEE'S STORY Hey Dudes this is Styler and I would like to tell you bout my friend Coffee. He was a 25 year old Quarter Horse gelding. He was the first horse seized by the Linn County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) Livestock Investigation Team that Sheriff Mueller created to help animals. I guess someone cared enough to turn his owners into the LCSO. The people that owned Coffee apparently thought they were doing good enough by him, but because of his age (I guess he was about 24 at the time) he needed more care than they were providing. So with the help of the LCSO deputies, some very nice people came and got him (the lady who would someday be the founder of Linn County Animal Rescue). Once he got to our spread, life became wonderful for old Coffee. Within less than 2 months this old fella gained a whopping 450 lbs. and was running around like a young whippersnapper! His previous owner could not believe that he was doing so well. So the LCSO arranged for him to see Coffee one last time. He and I got to go for a ride to the LCSO. When Coffee's previous owner looked at him, tears filled his eyes (yeah, mine too) as he saw how healthy he was and he said he was very happy for him. Then Coffee got to get out and have his picture took for the newspaper. But, alas, my friend has since passed away. But during his final years at LCAR he was healthy, happy and loved and I know his memory will live on forever for those who knew him and for those that believe in humane animal treatment and have a love for animals. |
They will live in our Hearts |
Buddy I am 34 a year old quarter horse and I love to hang outside. My owner wanted to find me a home where I could get enough feed to keep up my aging bod. I have lived at LCAR since 2006 and plan on staying here for the rest of my life. I love to be pet and groomed. I am very happy and healthy, and will live out the rest of my days here at LCAR being one happy old fellow! I can only eat senior feed cause most of my teeth have left me. Update: 02/10 Buddy has left us for greener pastures. |
