"Speaking for those who can't" |
ANN DOB 2001 Ann and I am a quarter horse/mustang mare with freeze brand captured from Coyote Lake/Alvord Tule Herd Managment eighty mile SE of Burns, OR. When times got really tough for my owners they loved me enough to ask the kind people at LCAR to take me in. Although I miss my old family, the people at LCAR have taken good care of me and now I am ready to become part of another caring family. I am looking for some someone to teach me how to be ridden. I am about 6 years old and ready for the mountains. I am a pretty dark bay with feet of my mustang parent. I have learned to hold a saddle and go around in circle and learning the human words for the different speeds. I hope soon I will have more people ride me. Update: 2/10 Broke to ride, can haul, blanket, trim, wash, etc. A little on the stubborn side but just needs someone to spend time with her. |
How to Adopt |
Looking for a Home |
SADIE Um, hi there. My name is Sadie. I was born about 2002, POA mare. I came from a place where the people I was with did not feed me or care for me in any way. I had to see horses killed in the most horrific ways. So needless to say I don't trust people easily. Someone was kind enough to report my owner to the LCSO. Some deputies came and took us away. I was placed in a very nice foster home with nice people that love me. This foster home turned into the LCAR. So with all the time, energy and tender loving care all these good people have given me I am truly ready to find a home with an especially patient and loving family. |

The adoption process is thru Linn County Animal Rescue. There is a form to fill out, a background check done by the Sheriff's office, inspection, and an adoption fee charged. The horses that can be adopted are back up to weight, but some may have special needs. We will give you as much information as possible on each horse. Rescue horses are just what the word implies, rescued. We don't know the whole story and can't tell you exactly what to expect, but will help each equine the best we can for a smooth transition. The adoption charge is on a sliding scale depending on the horse, starting at $100. The horse to be adopted is evaluated and depending on age, condition, and usability (ride able, pasture pal, etc) a price is set. The money from the adoption fee goes back into the rescue operation and allows us to rescue other horses in need. If you move or can no longer take care of the adopted horse it needs to be returned to Linn County Animal Rescue. There will also be a form to sign that indicates the mares can not be bred, if that rule is broken both the mare and foal will be surrendered back to LCAR. All stallions will be gelded before being adopted out. The process can take as long as a couple of weeks. We are looking for people that care about animals and wish to be a part of their lives. These animal (as all of us) need to be cared for to make the rest of their lives happy and healthy. |
